This book looks really funny.
Thanks.
You might be interested in a book I reviewed recently at book-blog.com, Ad Hudler’s Man of the House. Here’s my review: http://www.book-blog.com/2008/10/hudler-ad-man-o.html
If you haven’t read “The Book Thief” by Marcus Zusak, you must. Some categorizations list it as young adult, but that is absurd. It is a fantastic book with an outstanding (adoptive) father.
Thanks everyone.
These all sould like great suggestions so far,
Hi Steve thanks for commenting on my blog. That was my first power point.
Today I posted a review of a book which is great for kids! And adults too. I love it!
Sir Cook, The Knight? by Erik Mortensen.

thanks for the recommendation.
Looks like fun, I’m not sure how it relates to portraying a positive view of fathers or fatherhood, but I’ll check it out.
I recently read a YA/Christian fiction book called Runaway (Book 1, Starlight Animal Rescue) by Dandi Daley Mackall, review is here:

In it, is a family (mother, father, son, foster daughter, foster son, new foster daughter), and the father is just wonderful! They call him Popeye, but his name is really Chester Coolidge. He sets good examples for the kids, is loving and kind, and is very supportive of each person. While he is not the main character, he is a very strong supporting character, and one that remains in the series.
It is a quick read, and one that I asked my niece to read – she loved it!! We are waiting on book 2 now!!

You know, on second thought, Janette Oke’s Canadian West series is about a school teacher who moves out west (Canadian West), where she eventually meets and marries Wynn (can’t remember his last name). I know they end up adopting a baby. It is another Christian book, but I loved the story and characters because of the feeling of family and values!

Please read The Martian Child. Its a very sweet book. The movie, which suprizingly, can be enjoyed equally well, starred John Cusack. More single persons, male or female should be allowed to open their heart and homes to those children who really need it and who will enrich their lives.
Yes, we liked The Martian Child and have reviewed ithere.
I will check it out! You’re so great about answering comments!
This is a FABULOUS site! I have a personal interest in books for boys thus, jumped when I see your father-focused book reviews
I reviewed China’s Son: Growing Up in the Cultural Revolution, a YA novel. It’s the story of a landowner’s son who triumphs in a turbulent time, with admirable support from his father.
I’m currently reading “Courage in Patience by Beth Fehlbaum” which is about a young girl who reclaims her life after sexual abuse by her stepfather, with her biological father’s family who aims to make it good this time.
KittyCat’s last blog post..We’re learning Chinese!
Thanks for the kind words. We’ll check that one out.
The Screwed-Up Life of Charlie the Second has an interesting father-son relationship–son is a 17 yo boy trying to deal with what he perceives to be an overbearing father…they come to a better understanding of each other by the book’s end. That said, the focus isn’t on the father-son relationship, though it plays a large role in it.
Papa Do You Love Me? by Barbara Joosse is a children’s picture book set in West Africa. A young Masai boy goes out with his father tending to the cattle and doing everyday tasks. He asks his father if he loves him.
It’s a story about love, reassurance and protection. Coupled with beautiful colors, culture and even a glossary, this book is one I would recommend for 4-8 year olds.
